The Heritage Shed

Throughout the heart of this commanding landscape are the remnants of numerous original homesteads built by Elizabeth Marshall’s pioneer ancestors. On the surface they merely signify that there were generations of unknown peoples that have passed through the region and like these ruins, are now gone from the present, only to lie in the past. Yet, to those who know, these ruins represent the rich tapestry of the family’s European and California Indian heritage. Elizabeth Marshall calls this “The Heritage Shed” — the invisible but tangible sacrifice of generational ancestors, land stewards and ranchers.
